What it means to be a CPAE

The National Speakers Association (NSA), the leading organization for professional speakers, inducted five professional speakers into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame at its 2005 Convention, July 9-12, in Atlanta, GA.

Established in 1977, the Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE) is a lifetime award for speaking excellence and professionalism given to speakers who have been evaluated by their peers and judged to have mastered seven categories: material, style, experience, delivery, image, professionalism and communication. The award is not based on celebrity status, number of speeches, amount of income or involvement in NSA.

To date, 173 men and women have been inducted into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame. Fewer than 100 professional speakers worldwide currently hold BOTH the CSP (Certified Speaking Professiona) and the CPAE designation. LaDonna is now one of those elite who holds both designations.

The 2005 inductees are:

  • Daniel Clark, CSP, CPAE, of Salt Lake City, UT
  • LaDonna Gatlin, CSP, CPAE, of Frisco, TX
  • Willie Jolley, CSP, CPAE, of Washington, DC
  • Howard Putman, CSP, CPAE, of Reno, NV
  • Peter Vidmar, CPAE, of Coto de Caza, CA

These new inductees joined an elite group of other CPAE recipients such as Ken Blanchard, Norman Vincent Peale, Ronald Reagan, and Zig Ziglar.
